Colts TE Clark will go on injured reserve

Posted: October 22nd, 2010 | Adam Rank | Tags: Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Clark, Antonio Gates, Heath Miller, Austin Collie, Pierre Garcon, Jermichael Finley, Aaron Hernandez, Blair White, Tony Moeaki, Benjamin Watson, Jacob Tamme

The Colts announced on Friday that TE Dallas Clark will have wrist surgery next week and will go on injured reserve. Obviously a huge blow to the Colts, and to fantasy enthusiasts everywhere. Seriously, what is going on with the tight ends? First we lose Packers TE Jermichael Finley, Chargers TE Antonio Gates is hurt and now this.

The Colts will turn to Jacob Tamme to replace Clark. And QB Peyton Manning has shown faith in the Colts obscure players, making stars out of WRs Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie last season. And heck, he even tossed a touchdown pass to rookie WR Blair White earlier this year. White, of course, should be on your radar with Collie hurting.

But there are other options available in most leagues for owners missing Clark, including Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez, Steelers TE Heath Miller, Browns TE Benjamin Watson,  and Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki.

Haynesworth sidelined for Redskins vs. Colts

Posted: October 17th, 2010 | NFL.com Staff | Tags: Indianapolis Colts, Washington Redskins, Week 6 inactives

Washington Redskins defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth will not play Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts. Haynesworth missed the Redskins’ 16-13 win over the Green Bay Packers last week after his half brother died in a motorcycle accident.

Haynesworth rejoined the team Thursday.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said Thursday it will be a game-time decision whether or not Haynesworth plays, based on how the lineman is doing “both physically and mentally.”

Regular Redskins linebacker Rocky McIntosh was scratched due to a concussion. He will be replaced by H.B. Blades.

Full inactive lists:

Colts
WR Anthony Gonzalez
S Bob Sanders
CB Jacob Lacey
RB Donald Brown
LB Kavell Conner
LB Gary Brackett
G Jacques McClendon
DE Ricardo Matthews

Redskins

John Beck (No. 3 QB)
CB Kevin Barnes
RB Clinton Portis
LB Rocky McIntosh
G Derrick Dockery
DL Anthony Bryant
TE Logan Paulsen
DL Albert Haynesworth

Looking at options to replace Colts TE Clark

Posted: October 21st, 2010 | Michael Fabiano | Tags: Dallas Clark, Owen Daniels, Heath Miller, Michael Fabiano, Brandon Pettigrew, Aaron Hernandez, Tony Moeaki, Benjamin Watson, Jacob Tamme

Dallas Clark is without question one of the top tight ends in fantasy football. Unfortunately for owners who drafted him to be a staple of their starting lineup, he’s now out indefinitely due to a hand injury.

The Indianapolis Star reports that Colts team president Bill Polian said Clark’s injury is “not something that’s very safe to play with. It’s likely that he will have to have it fixed (surgery).” Polian went on to say that his tight end “will be out for a while, if not longer.”

The Colts are on a bye this week, so owners with Clark already need to find an alternative fast. The tight ends I’d be looking to add, in order, are Aaron Hernandez, Heath Miller, Benjamin Watson and Tony Moeaki.

Owen Daniels and Brandon Pettigrew are also long-term options, though both are off this week. Jacob Tamme, who will start in Clark’s absence, is worth a look in deeper leagues.

Owners lose Colts WR Collie to injury

Posted: October 21st, 2010 | Michael Fabiano | Tags: Peyton Manning, Dallas Clark, Michael Fabiano, Austin Collie, Anthony Gonzalez, Pierre Garcon, Blair White

As if it wasn’t bad enough that Joseph Addai (shoulder) and Dallas Clark (hand) were already expected to miss time due to injuries, now comes word that Austin Collie will also be on the shelf.

According to the Indianapolis Star, the talented wideout will miss “several games, and likely more” after having surgery on one of his hands.

Collie, who led all wideouts in fantasy points earlier in the season, shouldn’t be dropped but obviously won’t help fantasy owners for awhile. In his absence, Pierre Garcon figures to see an uptick in targets and will be a must-start wideout after the Colts bye week. Once healthy, Anthony Gonzalez will have more value as well.

Blair White will also warrant some consideration off the waiver wire in larger leagues.

While major injuries to so many prominent players would hurt the value of most quarterbacks, I still see Peyton Manning as an elite option. He’s the type of player that makes the talent around him better, so don’t think of benching him going forward.

Colts RB Hart a good pickup in Addai’s absence

Posted: October 20th, 2010 | Adam Rank | Tags: Indianapolis Colts, Joseph Addai, Mike Hart, Donald Brown, Jason La Canfora

NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora is reporting that Colts RB Joseph Addai could need several weeks to return from a shoulder injury, making RB Mike Hart an attractive option for many fantasy enthusiasts.

Hart has battled his own injury problems recently, but he did replace Addai to rush for 43 yards against the Redskins. RB Donald Brown was nursing a hamstring injury and did not make the trip to Washington.

Brown does have a chance to get healthy with the bye week, and he would be the starter if he can go, but Hart would be a pretty good insurance policy on your team.
