Consider adding Chargers WR Jackson

NFL insider Jason La Canfora reports that Vincent Jackson will report to the San Diego Chargers on Friday, Oct. 29. He will be forced to sit out three games due to his Roster Exempt status, so Jackson won’t be eligible to play in an actual game until Week 12.

Considered a No. 1 fantasy wideout before his holdout, however, Jackson is well worth adding and stashing if you have the roster room. After all, it looks like he’ll be back on the field in time for the fantasy playoffs.

Chargers’ Gates, Mathews, Floyd miss practice

A number of key Chargers missed practice on Wednesday. And to make matters worse, it was raining in San Diego, too.

Chargers TE Antonio Gates, RB Ryan Mathews and WR Malcom Floyd were absent from practice Wednesday, and even coach Norv Turner conceded that missing the first day makes it harder for the rest of the week. Although he was optimistic that Gates and Mathews are going to return to practice Thursday.

Turner, of course, was initially hopeful that Gates would be able to play Sunday against the Patriots. Floyd is most likely going to miss this week.

The Chargers also signed K Kris Brown, indicating that Nate Kaeding will not play.

Chargers WR Crayton has sleeper value

Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Malcom Floyd (hamstring) and Legedu Naanee (hamstring) both missed practice on Thursday.

Floyd won’t be active in Week 7, and Naanee is looking like he could be either questionable or a game-time decision at best. If Naanee is out of action, it would mean a lot of targets for Patrick Crayton, who had six catches for 117 yards against the Rams.

Against the Patriots, who have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to wide receivers, Crayton could be as much as a No. 3 fantasy option. Buster Davis will also be worth a look in deeper formats.

Acee also reports that Antonio Gates (ankle) was held out of practice, so fantasy owners need to keep tabs on his status over the next few days. On a positive note, Ryan Mathews (ankle) did return to practice and is expected to start.

Chargers TE Gates in protective boot

Chargers TE Antonio Gates is in a protective boot, after leaving Sunday’s game at St. Louis early with an ankle injury, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

WR Malcom Floyd left the game with a hamstring injury and did not return. Already thinning the Chargers receiving corps which started the game without Legedu Naanee.

Are the Chargers going to be rolling with Patrick Crayton and Buster Davis next week? Crayton did have 117 yards and Davis had a touchdown, but neither can match what Gates brings to the offense. The Chargers — and QB Philip Rivers – could be in serious trouble here.

Chargers TE Gates questionable

Chargers TE Antonio Gates (toe) did not practice on Friday, and is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Patriots. Suddenly, tight ends are the hottest name on the waiver wire.

Make sure to take a look at some of the possible available tight ends stating with Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez, Steelers TE Heath Miller, Browns TE Benjamin Watson and Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki.

Additionally, WR Malcom Floyd (hamstring) and Legedu Naanee (hamstring) are doubtful for Sunday’s game.
