As if it wasn’t bad enough that Joseph Addai (shoulder) and Dallas Clark (hand) were already expected to miss time due to injuries, now comes word that Austin Collie will also be on the shelf.
According to the Indianapolis Star, the talented wideout will miss “several games, and likely more” after having surgery on one of his hands.
Collie, who led all wideouts in fantasy points earlier in the season, shouldn’t be dropped but obviously won’t help fantasy owners for awhile. In his absence, Pierre Garcon figures to see an uptick in targets and will be a must-start wideout after the Colts bye week. Once healthy, Anthony Gonzalez will have more value as well.
Blair White will also warrant some consideration off the waiver wire in larger leagues.
While major injuries to so many prominent players would hurt the value of most quarterbacks, I still see Peyton Manning as an elite option. He’s the type of player that makes the talent around him better, so don’t think of benching him going forward.
